CUNY CIRGH Directors write to push for the use of the 1332 Medicare Waiver

In March 2023, the Directors of CUNY CIRGH wrote a letter in support of including migrants and undocumented people in the Medicaid coverage expansion being proposed by the NYS government with the 1332 Waiver. While the NYS government was moving forward with using the 1332 Waiver, a provision for expanding health care for immigrants was not included in the language. In response, a group of migrant-serving organizations had taken a public stand against it, with advocates hoping that the waiver would be improved based on comments received during the public commentary period.

In response to this call to action, CUNY CIRGH worked with the CUNY SPH to submit the following letter in support of adding an expansion for immigrants, including undocumented people:
